Horrible acts have been committed in this world. Buildings have been blown up, wars have been started, and freedom has been taken from those who need it most. The men and women weren't always this cruel; they were innocent children once too. I stumbled across a music video that depicts just that. At one point or another, all of these terrorists were innocent children. At some point in our lives, we leave our innocent self for our adult counterpart. Some of us make changes for the better, some for the worse. All in all, we aren't always that child. Billy Corgan says in the song Disarm, "I used to be a little boy, so old in my shoes. And what I choose is my choice, what's a boy supposed to do? The killer in me is the killer in you."
Serj Tankian spreads a similar message with this music video for one of his solo projects Empty Walls. Serj Tankian is the lead singer of the band System of a Down. Pay attention and see how many real life instances you can pick out of this video.

I prefer to leave the politics to the politicians and the interpretations of the politics to the journalist and family discussions. When Hollywood types or musicians try to interpret what they think is right or wrong they usually just end up looking stupid. I just get annoyed with people who set up in their white ivory towers and look down on everybody and try to tell us the best way to live our lives. This song and video is no different.
Whatever happened to songs like "We're an American Band" or "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap." Fun lyrics that you didn't need to try to figure out the politics of the song or what they are trying to say. Rock and roll was meant to be fun, upbeat and a bit rebellious not political commentary.
And yes I realize there were bands back in the 60s and 70s that were the same way but it doesn't mean I liked it any better back then either.
this is america, everyone has a voice. how can we keep it to the politicians and keep the system honest at the same time? an educated, opinionated population that questions authority is what keeps politicians from scamming the system. as much as i hate to admit that, it's true.
I have to agree with your dad on the people in their ivory towers telling us what to do. Especially the Hollywood types and their green movement. I'm as green as they come but to have them lecture me on being green as they board their private jet to go somewhere for the day really bugs me.
Which reminds me did I tell you that Cory's cousin is now John Travolta's private pilot?
I don't mind political songs. Some of the songs that came out of the 60's were so good. What happened to those kind of protest songs?
