We're Just Stuck in a Rut

I tell you what, this is shaping up to be a "more of the same" type year. As political campaigns lavish each other, gas prices stay high, and summer turns to autumn - this is all shaping up to be just another year like the previous. The Cubs still can't win in the playoffs, OJ Simpson is on trial, and GM just can't seem to turn things around.

This leads to more of the predictability, or lack thereof, of Michigan. U of M wins their Big-10 opener, just like every year. Grand Valley is destroying every team they play in football. The Tigers are out of the playoffs. The Tigers are under .500. The Tigers can't beat the White Sox. The Tigers underperform for their expectations (is there a pattern here?). A Republican can't carry the state of Michigan. The leaves turn yellow and orange, and as soon as they do they slip away under a cover of snow until what seems to be late July.

Now there are some things that might suprise some people around the state of Michigan. U of M is struggling in football. Coleman has won 3 games this year, which is more than the past 4 years combined. The unemployment rate is up to 9% (oh wait, that's not a suprise).

What are some things that you guys have noticed that are redundant in your states, and what do you think is out of the norm this year?

the pirates are still losing, there is hope for the penguins, and the steelers are super bowl bound. western pa people are still some of the nicest people around and yet can't merge into traffic to save their lives. and we will never have a good grocery store in this neck of the woods.

if possible, politics has gotten nastier. nordstroms is coming this month so some shopping is changing for the better. nd has started to show some life this year. smoking has been banned in all restaurants in pa and that's a change i applaud.

I've been thinking on this one a few days. Here goes: Football is still being played and my family still loves the game. Construction is indeed a season -- one that seems to be getting longer and longer each year (probably due to global warming). Criticism abounds. I have great friends.

What's new? My attitude. Change what you can, don't worry about the rest. Healthy foods are getting easier and easier to find and make.

It's wait till next year for the Tigers, the Lions haven't won a game, the grass is still green, the cows are still mooing, and bbq season is quickly coming to an end.

What's new is Michigan is losing, days are getting shorter, kids can't seem to find my phone number (wait that should go under the same thing happening every year), I found a new bbq sauce and I have a new Chicken a la King recipe.
