Changing Seasons (Not Political, I promise)

So I want to thank you all for your input on my last post. I encourage everyone's opinion and having open discussions in my comments; I love input. I figured I'd take a night off from politics since I've worked about 10 hours today, and it was entirely political. So without further adieu..

The Transition of Summer to Autumn

As we have all noticed it's not summer anymore. We no longer have the hot days capped off with warm, mostly clear nights. Baseball is in its final games, and football is in full force. The trees have just about lost their leaves, and this time of year starts to bring out some new seasonal items. This leads me to be curious. What are some of your favorite fall-time classics? It just so happens I have some of my own.

Pumpkin Spice Latte

I love coffee, and I love espresso, which means I probably like lattes. I do, in fact, like lattes. I'm glad we made progress with those last two sentences, but I'm leaving them in - unedited. Back to my point, anything with pumpkin spice in it has to be good. I don't make many trips to Starbucks, but I have to go at least once in the fall for this tasty classic.

Thanksgiving

In case you guys didn't know it, I love being around you. Our family is so unique and insightful - not to mention nothing short of hilarious. I like to think that when we were all together at my Open House that it was one of the most fun times we've ever had as a family, since I rarely see all/any of you. Thanksgiving is a perfect time to at least see a few of my family members, so that definitely makes the list. Also, you can't pass up Grandma's cooking (or yours, Dad), or Aunt Carla's green bean casserole, or Aunt Carrie's cookies (or her rendition of Great Grandma's lard pie crusts) - can't forget those suckers.

Samuel Adams Octoberfest

Just kidding!

That's it, get out your lists.

Signing off.

Things I love about fall:

1. The cold crisp autumn air when you go outside first thing in the morning.
2. The crunch of the leaves when walking in the woods in the UP.
3. Sitting in a tree stand without any breeze listing for that clomp, clomp, clomp of a deer slowing making their way towards your tree stand.
4. Sitting on the edge of a lake watching the sunset and contemplating another year coming to a close.
5. Sam Adams Oktoberfest, and I'm not kidding.

Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the days turner colder and that crispness to the air. And the crunch of leaves whether under feet or bike tires -- it's awesome! I like layering up clothes and having everything warm on the inside. Your Uncle Marv would have to chime in on Sam Adam Oktoberfest and he wouldn't be kidding either. Like the kiddies being back in school and settling into a routine after the crazy, fun days of summer.

BTW -- Already saw some snowflakes today. Looks like my favorite season could get cut short.

I haven't seen any snow here yet this year but we did have rain one night and it ended froze on the car the next morning. I think there might be snow in the forecast for tomorrow.

mmmmm

anything pumpkin. though i can't say it is a fall tradition because i eat it year round. but the pumpkin ice cream and chai appear in the fall so i always look forward to that.

i like the sounds of crunching leaves too. i have been known to ride my bike over them just so i can hear the sound.

i like the smell of burning leaves too. takes me back to lake george in the fall and she had a lot of leaves to burn.

i love the cooler days. perfect for walking my four miles.

and the color. it's everywhere!! the reds, oranges and yellows. we were in colorado once in the fall and seeing all of those yellow aspens was incredible.

i just like the idea of everything winding down and heading into the quietness and solitude if winter.

Dear God, sister, you're repeating yourself. Never, ever let your age show like that!

can you tell i am on sarah's laptop? i would type in the word verification and it would show it was wrong and make me do it again. it did this numerous times and as i can now see my comments were being posted. maybe it is a blogger problem not laptop problem. i know someone is to blame and it's not me!

HA! There was a problem with blogger yesterday morning. My comment about you repeating yourself got posted twice too. Would've been funny to leave it but I couldn't take the abuse!

I tried that pumpkin ice cream and I thought it tasted more like cinnamon or nutmeg. I was a little disappointed.

The best pumpkin anything I have had was the pumpkin fudge from Houghton last year. It came from a little fudge shop across main street from the Library (the bar not the library on campus.)
